Liza doing some exercises

Liza is in love with VeggieTales. She would watch them all day if I let her. She has the songs and the videos memorized. One of our favorite videos is one with just songs. She will sing them all and then want to do it all over again.

The one silly songs DVD starts out with Larry in some workout clothes doing some stretching and leading a little workout session. Liza likes to follow his directions and do the exercises with him. Sooooo stinkin cute!

The video is a little shaky but it was the best I could get at the time.

I love them SO much!

I love these kid sooo much. It's ridiculous.

I got a new flash for my camera today and was just messing around trying to figure it all out. I got some really cute pics of the kids during the process. They are beautiful!

Liza is a big 2 1/2 year old now and she will talk your ear off if you let her.

Jason is 13 months old. He loves showing you where his belly is, barking like a dog and saying "oh nooo".

Conversations with Liza

Me: What's up kiddo?

Liza: I not a kiddo. I a girl!

Project 365

I am not going to post pics from March 17-21 since they would just be of my trip and I already posted a ton of them. So I will pick up with the day after I got home....

March 22, 2009

Jason must be growing. The kid has been eating like we never feed him! He will just go to the kitchen and cry. So I thought it fitting that I get a photo of him stuffing his face.

I found an Elmo shirt at the thrift store. Liza is in love with Elmo so I figured even though it isn't girly it was only $1 so I might as well get it. She loves it. Would wear it every day if I let her. I told her I wanted to get a picture of her in her Elmo shirt and she decided she wasn't going to cooperate. She pulled the pillow up to cover her shirt and then went back to watch VeggieTales.

I'm pretty sure I skipped a photo today. I've been slacking. I think it is tough sometimes to get a photo every day because there are sooo many days that we just do the same things we always do and nothing exciting happens.

March 25, 2009

Michael got the photo for today. Liza has been my little buddy lately. I often sit in my papasan chair and just relax and the kids run around and entertain me. But lately.... Liza has been crawling in to the chair and sitting with me. Just resting. Snuggin. I love it!

Mike came to Liza's gymnastic class with us today. I'm so glad he got to experience her cuteness. I could tell that he enjoyed it a ton.

March 27, 2009

Two for today. Jason fell asleep at nap time in Mike's arms. It's not often that I get to take a picture of Jason because he is a light sleeper and I am afraid a flash will wake him up. The second pic is Liza at the end of naptime. She was still sleeping but I needed to get her up because we were leaving. I love watching Liza sleep... she's always so cute and peaceful.

Jason loves bath time. He is learning to splash a lot and he enjoys it.

Honey-Mustard Turkey Tenderloins

Prep time: 30 minutes (ready in 30 minutes)
Servings: 6

2 fresh turkey breast tenderloins (3/4 pound each)
1 tbsp olive oil
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 cup honey-mustard dressing (I used Ken's honey mustard... it's a good one!)
1/4 cup chopped fresh basil

1.) Heat gas or charcoal grill. Brush turkey tenderloins with oil; sprinkle with salt and pepper. In 1/2- to 1- quart saucepan, mix dressing and basil.

2.) When grill is heated, place turkey on gas grill over medium heat or on charcoal grill over medium coals; cover grill. Cook 15 to 20 minutes, turning and brushing with dressing mixture 2 or 3 times, until turkey is fork-tender and juices run clear.

3.) Heat any remaining dressing mixture to rolling boil; boil 1 minutes. Serve with turkey.

Soooooo good!!

(I got this recipe from Pillsbury Annual Recipes 2006 cookbook.)

We missed Liza's gymnastics class last week because I was in Florida. But we got back this week and Liza was as cute as usual! Mike decided to come along this time which was perfect because I gave him my camera to use. :) He really enjoyed watching Liza too.

The class starts out with a little warm up... just going through an obstacle course which includes a slide, some things to crawl through and some hoola hoops on the ground to jump in. Liza goes crazy and loooves the slide. She usually stops to go down it twice each time around instead of only once.

Miss Kristy helps the kids with their somersaults. Liza is actually really good at them but they are trying to teach the basic fundamentals of gymnastics... so they want the kids to start in a gymnastics stand, then squat stand, then pike stand... then roll. Liza just likes to roll. We try.

Then in to a little bit of stretching. Liza does really well with this as long as I don't sit too close to her. She listens to Miss Kristy much better than she listens to me. She knows the teacher is the boss during the classes.

Some rocking. She tries. It's cute.

All the kids get to take a turn on the balance beam. Liza rocks. She's good and has good balance. Which is hard to believe because she is such a clumsy kid.

And here she is doing her bear crawl. They have all kinds of different jumps and walks that they have the kids do... Liza does this one best.... while growling.

We had to be dorks... because that is what we do when we get together.

Lisa looks like she is holding the sun. :)

(Yes these have been edited.)

The last sunrise.

Saturday was my last day. I was leaving Florida on a plane at 10:30am. I didn't want to go. I could live on a beach with nothing to do and be really happy.

Lisa and I woke up for the sunrise. Once again it was beautiful. And it was nice to be able to get some pictures of myself on my trip! (Thank you Lisa!)

During my time in Florida I would stop and ask people if they would like me to get a picture of their whole family together. I know how much it sucks to never get a nice family photo because I am always behind the camera. I knew the "family photographers" would appreciate a nice picture that they were actually able to be in. So I would use their cameras and give them a memory.

It paid off. While Lisa and I were hanging on the beach, taking photos of the sunrise, a stranger walked up to us and asked if we would like our picture together. And it was awesome because he wasn't afraid of my big camera and he wasn't shy. He took a few and got us some nice pictures. Thank you stranger!!

My sister came to visit!

I have two sisters. They both live in Tampa. FL... so being that I was only about two hours away I invited them to come see me on my last day in Daytona. Linda was very pregnant and due in only a week so she opted to stay home. I don't blame her. I would have done the same! (She had her baby on Sunday!!)

Lisa was able to get the day off and she came and spent it with me. It worked out perfectly. She got there mid-morning and we went and got some lunch. Then we decided to rent the chairs and umbrella on the beach and were planning to spend the afternoon sitting in the sun, relaxing and catching up. It was a good plan until around 2:00 when it got really windy, cold and cloudy.

Really... we were freezing. Goosebumps. It was the first time for each of us to be at the Atlantic Ocean (Lisa's first time at any ocean... lots of time for both of us in the gulf though)... so we decided we HAD to go in. It was freezing. We got about half way in and decided that was far enough.

After that we sat wrapped in our towels like idiots because we paid for those chairs and we were getting our money's worth!!! We had to put the umbrella down because it was likely that it would blow away if we didn't. We didn't need the shade anyways because the clouds were doing that for us.

After freezing on the beach we headed back to the hotel and relaxed there until dinner time. We took a nice walk, found an IHOP, had some dinner. Then we just strolled the beach... which was empty because it was so cold and windy. Stopped in a few shops. Just enjoyed our time together. There was a store that made salt water taffy.... the best thing ever was that instead of just buying a box of it and being surprised with the flavors, we got to fill our own bags which meant we only got the kinds we liked. Genious!

I'm really glad that Lisa was able to come visit! I miss her! And Friday was the best day because had she not come I probably would have spent a lot of time in my hotel reading and relaxing... which would have been ok with me. But I was in FLORIDA! It was good to have someone to venture outside with... even though it was cold and windy. Made a nice ending to my little vacation. (Not to mention a ride back to the airport which saved me from having to spend $15 on a taxi again!

Day 3 Sunrise

Every morning as I watched the sunrise I got Here Comes the Sun by the Beatles stuck in my head. Of course I only knew the line "Here comes the sun, do do do do, here comes the sun" and it kept running over and over in my head.... yet, crazily enough, it never got annoying. Anyways... you can listen to it as you read and look at my pictures of the sunrise I got on my third morning.

I almost didn't wake up for this one. I was really tired when I went to bed and decided to turn my alarm off. I told God that if it was going to be different than the past two days that He could wake me up. I woke up just a few minutes before my alarm would have gone off. I'm glad I got up because it was BEAUTIFUL!!

Day 2 Sunrise

My second morning.

This was an interesting morning. I was alone. Watching the sunrise. Enjoying it... when I was approached by a guy (he was 37) and his dad. The younger guy says "We decided we aren't going to pass anyone on the beach this morning without finding where they are from." Ok. So I said "I'm from Pennsylvania." Go figure... so where they.... from Pittsburgh. That's my area. So of course they stopped to talk.... and they never moved on hahaha.

I didn't really mind though. The guy was a little weird and his dad was just quiet... cute old man haha. Guy did most of the talking.... on and on about how they just moved to Daytona from Pittsburgh about two weeks ago. Dad retired. Trying to find their life down there now. Guy ran away from home from when he was 17-21 but he's back with his family now and things are good. He loves his dad. God is awesome. Look at this sunrise. He's envious of the birds because they can fly and he can't. Doesn't think it's fair. Burned his leg on his motorcycle. He wants to go to the nude beach a few miles down the road. Don't worry... Guy won't shove God down your throat... he will just talk about Him some. He said so himself. Wants to buy that empty hotel there on the corner and turn it in to the most hip place on the beach. On and on and on.... Until the sun was up.

I just laughed. It was all a bit bizarre. But once again the sunrise was pretty sweet!!
