Butterflies from Around the World

My Grandpa passed away a few years ago but he has left something behind that will always be treasured. Grandpa collected butterflies. Tons of butterflies over the years. He preserved them and labeled them with the species, date and location where he caught it. It's a magnificent collection!

When he passed away there were some museums that were interested in his collection but I don't know what ever happened with that. It doesn't matter though because that means every time we come home to visit we can still go look at Grandpa's butterflies.

The butterflies were always kept at Grandma and Grandpa's house but recently my Grandma moved them to the flower shop that they built and put them on display. The sign out front says "Stop in to see butterflies from around the world!"

They are now all on display in the front room of the flower shop.

Liza was checking out her Great Grandpa's butterfly net.

Jason liked the case of bugs. There are some large, nasty bugs. Eww.

The kids love stopping in to visit with their Great Grandma Jean.

If you are ever in St. Marys make sure to stop by the Greenhouse on the highway and check out the butterflies! It's a beautiful memorial to my Grandpa.
