We started our 13 hour day at Niagara Falls by doing Maid of the Mist. It was a Friday and we arrived early enough to avoid any lines. We made our way through the pay booths, rode the elevator down, got our ponchos and got on the boat without any wait time at all. Well... maybe three minutes but when you are at a busy tourist place that is like not waiting at all.
Mad of the Mist was fantastic!!
While on Maid of the Mist, we got great views of the American Falls and then continued to the horseshoe falls where we were just pelted with wind and mist. We couldn't see anything because we were surrounded by white.
I had no idea what to expect while on this little boat trip, but it was super cool, and I was amazed at the force and power of the falls.
When you get off the boat you can then walk along a walkway that takes you close to the American Falls. This is when my feet got completely soaked. (You can also pay $1 to just go on the Observation Deck and walk this walkway.)
I highly recommend doing Maid of the Mist if you get the chance, but if you are wearing sneakers I also recommend doing Cave of the Winds first so you can wear their cheapy sandals and keep your sneakers dry while on the boat so you don't have soggy feet for the rest of your visit. I'll share about Cave of the Winds another time.
For now... Maid of the Mist!!
